NFT Washington DC Chesterbrook

This residential 'burb is home to senators, Supreme Court justices, and former White House spokesmen, complete with the oldest golf and country club in the DC area. With its large homes and spacious leafy yards, Chesterbrook is old-school wealthy, with none of the crammed together McMansions found in newer parts of NoVa. If you live here, expect to drive your kids' lacrosse team-stickered Lexus SUV elsewhere for essentials.

Entertainment around here consists of walking your dog, raking your yard, and checking how the neighborhood schools stacked up this year against "The Nation's 100 Best High Schools." If you live in Chesterbrook, take advantage of the outdoor offerings: access the Potomac Heritage Trail from Civil War-era Fort Marcy, or explore the trails at Gulf Branch offering access to adjacent and also historic Fort Ethan Allen Park, or take the pooch to the nicely appointed Madison off-leash dog park. As for the few restaurants nearby, Chesterbrook-ites seek a few more stars when dining out.See more.

Fort Marcy
For those of you who have driven south along the scenic GW Parkway, seen the exit sign for Fort Marcy and thought, "Oh, an old fort! How cool. I should pop in some time and get in touch with some historical culture in a lovely natural setting"-- be warned. Fort Marcy is nothing more than an area of grass where a fort used to stand. There are a few billboards that provide some less-than-interesting facts about said fort that no longer exists. And there is an arbitrarily-placed cannon that may be the National Park Service's lame attempt to make visitors feel like they are visiting a real fort. But the rest of your fort fantasies will have to be left to the imagination because Fort Marcy is just grass. And for those of you who visit the park to hike one of the two trails there, be also warned: one trail borders the loud GW Parkway and eventually semi-terminates into the highway; and the other trail, while less noisy, borders a garbage-strewn stream. So, basically, I would travel the two miles northward to Turkey Run Park instead.
